RIA NOVOSTI. According to the latest data, official unemployment in the Russian Federation equals slightly over 1 mln people. This is the lowest reading of registered unemployment in Russia in the past ten years, Yury Gertsiy, the head of the Federal Service of Labor and Employment, told journalists on Thursday.
“As the latest data shows, the official unemployment rate in Russia is 1.2 mln people. This has been the lowest indicator since 2001," he said.
The authoritys chief pointed out that unemployment declined in 72 regions of Russia during the week, and remained the same in seven constituent entities of Russia. Gertsiy added that the overall unofficial unemployment rate in Russia totals 5.4 mln people.
The official also made a forecast for the countrys official unemployment until the end of the year. “I suppose that official unemployment will be under 1 mln people by the end of 2012," the official noted.
