RIA NOVOSTI. Russ-Bank could be renamed in Rosgosstrakh-Bank provided that insurer Rosgosstrakhs pilot project to sell a new credit product to its customers is executed successfully, Rosgosstrakh CEO and beneficial owner Danil Khachaturov, who together with his partners also owns Russ-Bank, told reporters, RIA Novosti wired.
In March Rosgosstrakh in partnership with Russ-Bank plans to launch a project (Rosgosstrakh-Credit) whereby insurants will be provided with credit facilities to buy insurance policies. “Will see whether or not the new product will find consumers…The product will first be launched in Rostov, Voronezh and Pskov," Khachaturov pointed out adding the product mainly targets the auto insurance segment. According to him, in the future the project could be executed also with other banks that will be selected at tenders.
As Khachaturov noted, by June (when the pilot projects first results become clear) Russ-Bank will decide whether or not to change its corporate name. “As one of Russ-Banks development models, if the pilot project is a success, well probably submit an application to rename Russ-Bank in Rosgosstrakh-Bank," he said.
For the time being, the bank is making preparations. Specifically, on March 10, 2011 Russ-Bank shareholders will review at an EGM an application to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation seeking to include words “Russia” or its derivatives in the lending institutions corporate name. As Khachaturov pointed out, this is a mandatory procedure so that there is an opportunity to rename the lender in Rosgosstrakh-Bank at a later time.
