In the first three quarters of 2005, Russian bank assets counted by analysts grew by 28.6% to R8.2 trillion, vs. the 25% growth for the whole of last year. The reason is a sluggish growth of the Russian banking system in 2004 when the summer crisis of confidence broke out, analysts say. The 9M2005 capital grew by 21.7% to R1.1 trillion, compared with a 14% growth for 2004. The volume of liquid assets continued down, falling by 16.9% from the start of the year to R636b, compared with a 5.0% fall for the whole of 2004. (Bankir.ru)
