The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has neither confirmed nor denied US data on record personal dollar savings in Russia. According to data from the US Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve System and the US Secret Service, Russians accumulated $80 billion in cash thus occupying the world’s leading position in terms of dollar savings. Last November, CBR Chairman Sergei Ignatyev assessed the volume of personal dollar savings in Russia at $20—30b.
