Italys INTESA SANPAOLO (owns the eponymous bank and a mid-sized KMB BANK in Russia) may buy a Russian bank with assets exceeding $1.5 billion, said Antonio Fallico, a representative of the group. So far, the aggregate assets of the KMB BANK and the Russian subsidiary of the INTESA group total E1.3 billion. Fallico noted that the Russian banking market is the priority CIS market for the Italian group. Nevertheless, INTESA is currently considering buying a bank in Ukraine.
