Herbert Moos has been appointed chief executive officer at VTB Bank Europe plc, one of the investment divisions of VTB Group, the lending institution said in a press release.
Herbert Moos came to VTB Bank Europe after 14 years of employment as a top manager at Lehman Brothers. His career started at Lehman Brothers London office, then he was promoted to the position of a finance director for the Asian Pacific region (excluding Japan) and also a head of the treasury office for the Asian Pacific region, based in Tokyo and Hong Kong. In the past six years of employment at Lehman Brothers Herbert Moos had played a key role in rolling out the companys investment banking platform in Asia and expanded business activities from a representative office to the company with annual net profit of $3 bln.
VTB Bank Europe plc. is a part of VTB Groups investment business and is a leading arranger of credit facilities for Russias largest concerns. As of December 31, 2007 assets of VTB Bank Europe plc. topped £2.4 bln. VTB Bank Europe plc. passed registration in the UK as a company owned by the Russian bank, activities carried out by VTB Bank Europe plc. are authorized and governed by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
According to the data from news agency Banki.ru and Interfax-CEA, as of July 1, 2008 net assets of VTB Bank stood at Rub 1,749 bln (2nd place in Russia). The lending institution is a member of the national deposit insurance system.
VTB Groups investment divisions carry out business from offices located in Moscow, London and Singapore and focus on the arrangement of issues of debt and shared securities, advisory services related to capital market and M&A deals in Russia and outside its boundaries, rolls out direct investment operations, activities on global commodity markets and asset management.
