RBC. Mikhail Prokhorov could be elected to the board of directors at Bank Vozrozhdenie, two sources, one close to Onexim Group and another to Bank Vozrozhdenie, told RBC.
As a source at Bank Vozrozhdenie specified in an interview with RBC, the bank's board of directors would meet on Wednesday, February 4, to decide whether or not to elect Mikhail Prokhorov to the board. The board will have to approve the bank's shareholders meeting, the date of which would be appointed at an upcoming board meeting, a RBC source added. The preliminary date of the bank's shareholders meeting is May 28.
At present, Bank Vozrozhdenie's board of directors consists of 11 members, including management board chairman Alexander Golgopolov, deputy management board chairwoman Lyudmila Goncharova, and Sergei Malinin, head of the bank's corporate operations provision division.
Apart from them, other board members are movie director Nikita Mikhalkov and Rector of the Government Financial University Mikhail Eskindarov, Mozhaisk CJSC general director Nikolai Zatsepin, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Moscow region Igor Kuimov, and consultant of Cyprus-based FBME Bank Ltd. Oleg Lapushkin, independent director and former management board chairman at Donau Bank (Austria) Vladimir Malinin, and Yury Poletaev, one of Moscow Narodny Bank executives in London. The board is chaired by Otar Margania, Bank Vozrozhdenie shareholder and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Saint Petersburg State University.
Bank Vozrozhdenie founder Dmitry Orlov died last December.
A source familiar with Bank Vozrozhdenie executives told RBC that the lending institution's major shareholders, among whom is Dmitry Orlov's daughter, Tatiana, contacted Mikhail Prokhorov seeking his advice, as Dmitry Orlov failed to execute all documents related to his inheritance. According to the same source, Mikhail Prokhorov agreed to help. Mikhail Prokhorov is an old friend of Dmitry Orlov and considered him to be his teacher in some matters.
A stake in Bank Vozrozhdenie, which accounts for 30.70% of the charter capital (32.03% of the bank's voting shares) and was held by Dmitry Orlov, was given on January 28, 2015 to Alexei Krapivin for trust management purposes for the period of execution of inheritance documents.
