RUSSIA TODAY. Bank Intesa is looking to become one of the first ten leading banks in Russia, the lending institutions board chairman Antonio Fallico said in an interview with Russia Today television.
“We intend to grow both organically and non-organically, by acquiring another bank and become one of the first ten leading banks in the Russian Federation. Naturally, this is a very ambitious and difficult target for the bank. At present, we operate 79 divisions spanning Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, but we have not yet reached a desirable outreach," Fallico said.
“But we are satisfied with the quality of our relations, as around 90% of all the investments that Russian companies make in Italy go through the bank. And nearly 100% of all major investments, such as Eni and Enel, go through our accounts. This compensates quite a modest range of our operations. For the bank Russia is not only a good market, but also a strategic partner both in trade and investments in third countries. Weve been injecting funds into other countries, such as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, etc., through Russia," he added.
