Vladimir Kirienko, a son of Sergei Kirienko, former Prime Minister and the incumbent head of the Federal Nuclear Power Agency (ROSATOM), has taken a high-ranking post in Nizhni Novgorod. He has been elected board chairman at the Nizhni Novgorod SAROVBUSINESSBANK, which took over the GARANTIA bank established and chaired by Sergei Kirienko before 1996. According to the INTERFAX CEA agency, as of April 1, 2006, SAROVBUSINESSBANK had R6.6 billion in assets (140th place in Russia and second place among Nizhni Novgorod regional banks) and R1.6b in capital (89th and second place, respectively). Vladimir Travin, ROSATOM deputy head, holds 24.64% of shares, with 19.99% owned by MILLENIUM and 17.53% by the PIK POVOLZHYE company.
